To celebrate her new album release, Facebook, Columbia Records and American Express have partnered to deliver a Facebook first allowing fans of Alicia Keys to stream her entire new album before its release date on December 15th. Targeted social ads running across the Facebook network were used to drive the fan base by encouraging users to click the 'Become a Fan' icon in order to be able to stream the album exclusively on Facebook.
With the average Facebook user spending up to 20 minutes per user session, it is a great example of a brand adding value to a consumer's social networking experience with over 20,000 people streaming tracks as they browse Facebook within the first few hours of its launch.
The page's functionality allows for data capture meaning that Columbia Records can also grow their database of fans of the R&B genre for future remessaging purposes.
